Therefore, we are excited to announce that we are taking a major step in our sustainability efforts by switching to OrganicBoard Pure P2 from Pfleiderer for all our melaminated stock panels. This change marks an important shift towards more environmentally friendly materials without compromising on quality.
Previously, we used chipboard panels made from reclaimed wood, mainly from residual wood from sawmills. Although reclaimed wood is a waste stream, it brought some challenges. This wood still needs to be dried before it can be used. Moreover, although it is a residual product, it remains an unused raw material.
With the switch to OrganicBoard Pure P2, a fully recycled particleboard with a biogenic binder, we have found a solution that is both environmentally friendly and efficient. This material is manufactured from 100% recycled wood, allowing us to preserve valuable raw materials. Moreover, the biogenic binder eliminates the need for scarce raw materials such as oil, further reducing our carbon footprint.
But what does this mean for our customers? First of all, they can rest assured that their projects at INTOS are realised with materials that respect the environment. In addition, they contribute to a more sustainable future without compromising on the quality and durability of the final product.
Moreover, this material offers the same versatility and high-quality finish that INTOS is known for. Whether for office interiors, shop interiors or custom-made furniture, this material meets our high standards for performance and aesthetics.
During an extensive testing phase, the material was tested with different treatments and is rated better than conventional chipboard.
One of the advantages of OrganicBoard Pure P2 is that it can be easily incorporated into the regular recycling stream of wood materials. This means that at the end of the product's lifespan, the material can be recycled and reused in an environmentally friendly way, reducing the amount of material burnt.
