Customer needs

Due to strong growth within the pharmaceutical sector, the Alkmaar site had to be expanded from 2,000 m² to 7,000 m². This expansion included not only space for offices, office gardens, auditoriums, meeting rooms, a gym and a canteen, but also for a new cleanroom to handle all the medicines themselves. It was crucial that the cleanroom design both ensured the quality and safety of the drugs and provided an ergonomic and safe working environment for employees.

Our approach

Working closely with Kropman Installatietechniek, we designed the cleanroom furniture and started production of the standard furniture. This included changing rooms (sluices) with dispenser cabinets, shoe cabinets, rinse cabinets and transfer benches. In addition, custom-made pass-through cabinets were installed to safely move medication between rooms.

The most special custom-made furniture was the newly developed workstation with integrated dust cupboard. This took into account an ergonomic and height-adjustable worktop. For the dust cupboard's extraction, which moves with the table, to function optimally, the wall mounting had to be both flexible and safe. After a sketch and discussions with all parties involved, the design was worked out in 3D. For clarification, we made a mock-up of the workplace, including the table, dust cupboard and back walls with integrated extraction system, which formed as one unit.
