Naktuinbouw

Naktuinbouw, a research institute for inspecting seed and plant material for diseases and pests, was remodelling its laboratory. INTOS was immediately asked from previous contact to redesign the remodelled 600 m2 laboratory with existing and new lab furniture.

Customer needs

For Naktuinbouw, it was essential to have the right facilities to support their research. This required a detailed subdivision of spaces and attention to the dynamics in work processes between employees. All suppliers in this project were expected to coordinate closely with the other parties involved to ensure smooth execution of the various project phases.

Our approach

To ensure that processes were not too much delayed by the renovation and the laboratory could be delivered on time, we worked closely with the building contractor and installer.

For an optimal working environment per department and associated spaces, we redesigned all lab areas based on an internal employee survey. This included both new furniture and equipment-such as laboratory tables, base cabinets, safety cabinets, an integrated balance table and fume cupboards-as well as reused furniture. Thanks to our Green Lab Service, we helped think of ways to save costs and materials, which resulted in the reuse of several table frames. This furniture was refurbished and reintegrated into the refurbished facility.

Delivered result

Marcel Zenden, technical laboratory technician at Naktuinbouw: "This project perfectly illustrates the knowledge and skills of INTOS Lab Solutions. Our wish to deal sustainably with existing furniture and reuse it was skilfully taken up and executed by INTOS. The combination of thinking along about new laboratory furniture and optimal reuse of existing furniture was of great value to us."

Luuk van Willigenburg, project director - Lab solutions at INTOS: "As always, the focus was on good cooperation with the other parties. It was special to see how a nature-oriented organisation like Naktuinbouw paid a lot of attention to sustainability and how together we found possibilities to get a large part of their existing furniture functioning optimally again."
