Genmab Accelerator

Genmab, an international biotechnology company specialising in the development of antibody therapeuticshe against cancer and other serious diseases expanded itself out to new premises, the Accelerator. The seven floors for the laboratoriumspace of Genmab, that in all about 4.500 m2 big, had to be delivered with laboratory furniture. As preferredsupplier for the lab furniture from Genmab INTOS was asked to provide this in collaboration with project manager JLL and architect Cepezed.

Customer needs

Genmab's growth made it necessary to expand in workspace for many departments as well. With the seven floors in the new building, the Accelerator, this was possible. Each lab department had to be optimally supported by the laboratory furniture in their own work process. Following the relocation of a number of laboratories from the existing building, the Genmab Research & Development Centre (GRDC), to the Accelerator, a new layout for the GRDC was required based on reusing as much existing furniture as possible.

Our approach
Together with representatives from each department, we used our INTOS catalogue about the choices in laboratory furniture for the new building. With that input, we identified the requirements for special and standard furniture.

In addition, in coordination with other suppliers, we designed a new media column fully matching the island-style lab tables widely used in this project. And a deeper lab table was developed. The first lab table was further developed in detail during assembly. Based on this, the other lab tables were installed on all other floors. Despite the extensive preliminary process, the total realisation took only a year, of which the assembly per floor took 3 weeks.

Given the expansion of various departments in the Accelerator, several spaces in the GRDC have become vacant. Through the Refurbishment Track IV project, INTOS has been efficiently and sustainably renovating these spaces gTo redecorate with lab furniture.

Delivered result

Martijn Kuiper, Sr. Manager Lab Services, Lab Management:
"We are very happy with our new labs in the Accelerator. Intos INTOS installed high-quality furniture with modular frames so that we can expand and exchange the lab benches during changes in the work process, after relocations or after refurbishments. This makes the furniture fit any lab"

Delano Post, INTOS project manager:
"It's always cool to work for the end user. This made it easier for us to grab the space to work intensively with the direct users, the project management office and the main contractor. And you see that reflected in the end result!"
