Seating area Lounge 1, airside - Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

Together with ZENBER Architects and commissioned by Schiphol Airport, INTOS realised a renovated seating area in Lounge 1 (airside): a comfortable, stylish place to wait, work or just relax. A project that directly contributes to a better travel experience for thousands of passengers every day.

INTOS contributed to the expansion and renovation of Lounge 1, as part of Schiphol's investment plans to improve quality at the airport. This involved commissioning a new airside area with additional passenger space and seating.

Customer needs
Schiphol wanted to future-proof Lounge 1 with:

more space for European travellers
a more spacious, modern look
more seats and comfort
a better passenger experience, in line with the “new Schiphol”

Challenge
The renovation of Lounge 1 is extensive (more than 20,000 m²) and includes technical areas and installations in addition to passenger areas. At the same time, the expansion was to ensure better traffic flow via a new walking route, while work continues on new facilities such as catering and shops in the period after.

Result
With 5,000 m² of additional space, Lounge 1 has become significantly larger and more open. The new plaza offers more seating, an improved walking route and a clear quality boost to the passenger experience. This provides a modern foundation on which additional facilities will continue to be built in the coming month.
