Our policy for sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of INTOS. With seven clear focal points - from COâ‚‚ reduction and circular solutions to safety and career development - we are working together towards a better future. Together with our partners, we strive for tangible and measurable impact. Find out how we are building a sustainable world!
COâ‚‚ footprint reduction in business operations
- Environment
- Society
- Good governance
We are drastically reducing our footprint. We do this by taking direct action through innovation, optimising our processes and transitioning to fossil-free means of transport and operations.
Affordable and sustainable energy
Climate Action
We are working hard to significantly reduce the carbon emissions from our operations. We do this by using energy and transport smarter and more efficiently, and by using renewable energy sources. Our focus is on making our energy sources more sustainable and reducing unnecessary emissions. The 30% reduction is based on base year 2023.
Our commitment to sustainability goes further: by 2030, we aim to reduce our carbon emissions by as much as 60%. This goal is central to our strategy to contribute to global efforts to limit global warming, notably by making our energy consumption more sustainable and phasing out fossil fuels. The 60% reduction is based on base year 2023.
Our vision is a completely fossil-free operation by 2035. This includes making all our means of transport and business processes sustainable. By innovating and continuously investing in sustainable technologies, we are taking an important step towards a climate-neutral future.
Understanding the footprint of projects
- Environment
- Society
- Good governance
We are committed to full transparency and want to actively contribute to reducing COâ‚‚ emissions in every project. Our focus is on using environmentally responsible materials and developing COâ‚‚-neutral solutions.
Climate Action
From 2025, we aim not only to help our clients realise their projects, but also to provide them with valuable insights into their carbon impact. By providing transparency on the ecological impact of material use, we can jointly make more sustainable choices and actively contribute to the fight against climate change.
Although most of a project's materials are often already chosen by designers, sometimes we have the opportunity to choose a material. We will optimise these materials for ecological impact and communicate preventively to facilitate the design of sustainable interiors.
Sustainable products
- Environment
- Society
- Good governance
Our own products are designed to have minimal ecological impact, maximum circularity and positive social impact. We aim not only to offer our clients environmentally friendly products, but also to take the lead in driving sustainable innovation within our industry.
- Minimal environmental impact
- Maximum social impact
Responsible consumption and production
INTOS is committed to developing products that meet the highest sustainability standards. Our high-impact products are designed with minimal ecological footprint, maximum circularity and positive social impact. With these sustainable alternatives, we aim to inspire our customers to make environmentally conscious choices.
By 2028, we want half of the products we sell to be sustainably designed. This means they have a minimal ecological footprint and contribute to a circular economy. We aim for our customers to choose the most sustainable solution by default.
By 2030, all the products we sell will meet our high standards for sustainability, circularity and social impact. Sustainability will no longer be an option, but the norm. This is part of our mission to accelerate the transition to a circular economy and make a positive impact on the environment.
Circular enterprise
- Environment
- Society
- Good governance
We are taking action to achieve fully circular operations. This means that we design products for reuse, minimise waste from our processes and are committed to reusing materials, giving raw materials a second life.
Sustainable cities and communities
We aim not only to supply products, but also to take responsibility for their full life cycle. By setting up a lease and take-back model, we are working towards a circular economy in which reuse and minimisation of waste are central.
By increasing reuse of waste streams to 80%, we are working towards a circular economy where reuse and minimisation of waste are key.
From 2027, we want to ensure that every project we undertake is designed with disassembly and reuse in mind. This means developing our products in such a way that they can be easily disassembled, allowing the parts and materials to be reused or recycled. In doing so, we take a big step towards full circularity, minimising waste and preserving valuable raw materials for future applications.
Our vision is that by 2030, a robust infrastructure will be in place to take back and reuse materials. This means we will actively contribute to the circular economy by not only making new products but also taking responsibility for reusing existing raw materials.
By 2030, we aim to send no more waste to landfill. This means we will reuse, recycle or otherwise process all our waste so that it is fully returned to the circular economy. By eliminating waste and constantly reusing materials, we aim to drastically reduce our environmental footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future without unnecessary waste of resources.
Responsible use of wood
- Environment
- Society
- Good governance
We are committed to combating deforestation by using only materials sourced from sustainably managed forests. Thus, we contribute to the preservation of forests and the protection of biodiversity.
Sustainable cities and communities
Responsible consumption and production
From 2025, we will only use forestry-related materials that come from sustainably managed forests. With this policy, we aim to contribute to the preservation of forests and biodiversity, while at the same time taking our responsibility to combat deforestation.
By 2030, we aim to deliver all our projects with full Chain of Custody certification. This means that all materials used are traceable to sustainable, certified sources, allowing us to guarantee maximum transparency and responsibility towards our clients.
(Career) development
- Environment
- Society
- Good governance
We invest in the growth and development of our staff and students by offering them personal development and supporting their career opportunities. We strive for a corporate culture that encourages knowledge sharing and professional growth.
Decent work and economic growth
At INTOS, our employees are central. By 2026, we aim to draw up a personal development plan for 80% of our employees. This will create opportunities for professional growth and strengthen our position as an attractive employer.
INTOS is strongly committed to the growth and development of our employees. By 2027, we want career development satisfaction within our company to be above the market average. We will achieve this by offering employees more opportunities for personal and professional growth, offering clear development paths and strengthening career guidance. By fostering a culture of learning and development, we aim to be an attractive employer and ensure that our employees remain motivated and engaged.
Healthy & safe working
- Environment
- Society
- Good governance
We are committed to the safety and health of our employees by promoting a culture of safety and integrating stress prevention into our operations. The well-being of our people always comes first.
Decent work and economic growth
Safety is priority number one at INTOS. By 2025, we aim to achieve Safety Culture Ladder step 3, an important step in ensuring a safe workplace. We also set up a health programme, focusing on both physical and mental health, to promote the well-being of our employees.
At INTOS, the health of our employees is most important. By 2030, we want to have created a working environment where no work-related accidents occur, and where there are no absenteeism due to work pressure or stress. We are building a culture where safety and well-being are paramount.
